The sportswoman Anna von Boetticher is usually found near water. The 52-year-old has set 34 German records in apnea diving, i.e. deep diving without an oxygen tank, and trains the combat swimmers of the Bundeswehr. For the interview, the Munich resident, who lives in Berlin, comes to the café next to the bookshop that her mother used to run. Around the corner is the Landwehr Canal.
Anna von Boetticher has set many freediving records. A conversation about the intoxication of the deep, dealing with existential threats and an instinctive primal fear of people under water.
