The iconic jewels of María Félix return to Mexico

The Jumex museum will bring back to Mexico some of the iconic jewels of the French house Cartier worn by the Mexican actress María Félix. The sample The design of Cartier: a living legacy will exhibit from March 15 emblematic pieces of the heritage of the housethrough pieces from his own collection, private collections and documentary archives.

Cartier jewels have once again stood out after the publication of a report in the magazine Vogue dedicated to the also actress Mabel Cadena. In the photographs, the interpreter of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever carries some of these samples, among which is the necklace Crocodile —a classic piece made in 1975 especially for Félix—, which will also be exhibited in March. A jewel made of gold and encrusted with 1,023 diamonds, 1,060 emeralds, two emerald cabochons —a type of gem— and two ruby. A fully articulated piece that can be used separately as a brooch.

The exhibition will cover five themes, including one dedicated to the figure of María Félix. Cartier bracelets, brooches and necklaces from the lady They have belonged to the French house since the 1980s. Some of these pieces were sold by the artist herself, and others were acquired at auctions and private sales.

The five sections of the exhibition will cover the early years of Cartier, in The early years and the birth of a style; the arrival of the house to the world, with universal curiosity; will give voice to some of the emblematic jewelers of the house, in The taste of Jeanne Toussaint; will tour the success of the brand, in measure time and wear beauty; and they will have the space dedicated to María Félix and other glories of fashion, in María Félix and the icons of elegance.

The exhibition will be supervised by the Mexican art critic Ana Elena Mallet; and has the design of the architect Frida Escobedo, the first woman to lead an expansion project of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where she will be in charge of the new pavilion. Just a few weeks ago, Malley showed her satisfaction on being part of her team on her social networks. “I am delighted to have learned so much,” she responded to a user on Twitter.

He Crocodile de Cartier, worn by the lady, It will be on display along with the rest of the collections until May 14. With this exhibition, the emblematic jewel returns to Mexico 24 years after it was shown The Art of Cartier: glow of time brought her for the last time to the National Institute of Fine Arts.
